Barack Obama
This week's Wings of Justice winner comes to
us from a very special reader: our winner
from last week! L.F. Eason
III of North Carolina
sacrificed his job to stand up to the hypocrisy of politicians falling
all over themselves to honor Jesse Helms, whom Eason
said practiced
a "doctrine of negativity, hate, and prejudice."
So of course we couldn't help but take notice when Eason drew our
attention to the much-overlooked impact of Sen. Barack Obama's European
tour:
I feel that Senator Obama convinced much of Europe that America
could move past the Bush fiasco and not be the tyrant they've dealt
with for the past seven years. I never thought Americans could be
liked in Europe for several generations, but Senator Obama seems
to have accomplished that most important goal in the span of a single
speech.
On the home front, I particularly liked his remark, "The walls
between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot
stand." The only way to secure our southern border is to help
eliminate the inequity between our countries. If we put the money
that would have gone into building this new iron curtain into humanitarian
relief and identifying who is here, it will do far more to secure
our border and the safety of America. Senator Obama earned the Wings
of Justice award for this incredible European trip. There is hope
for America again!
Like Eason, we at BuzzFlash prefer to concentrate on what Obama
actually said and did in Europe, instead of lies
propagated by the McCain campaign about what the Senator from Illinois supposedly did
not do. And for that, we proudly award him this week's Wings of Justice
Award.
