Keith Olbermann

BuzzFlash honored Keith Olbermann, the sane, lacerating beachhead of democracy on cable television, with its Wings of Justice award on August 30, 2006. Now we learn that even Rupert Murdoch, the Darth Vader of the corporate mainstream media, is trying to muscle General Electric and MSNBC to muzzle Olbermann.

So when a BuzzFlash reader nominated Olbermann once again for a Wings Award, we took the rare step of presenting it to him for a second time.

As our BuzzFlash nominator wrote:

Keith Olbermann has long been one of very few in the mainstream media willing to stand up to the GOP machine. Many members of the media eagerly prostitute themselves to George W. Bush and his neo-conservative goons. Olbermann is a noble exception. Keith Olbermann tells the truth about the Bush administration's immoral and disastrous policies. Olbermann has been a powerful and much needed voice for justice.

On the May 14, 2008 edition of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," Olbermann surpassed his already exemplary standard. Keith Olbermann's special comment "Of War and Golf" is a precise and damning indictment of the Bush administration and its terrible crimes. The special comment is also a reminder that Bush's contemptible actions range all the way from lies about the timing and reasons he quit golf to Bush's despicable pursuit of war for the sake of money and power.
