Democrats in Congress Who Voted Against
Telecom Immunity
Although Telecom Immunity was passed in the Senate, it was defeated,
thus far,
in the House of Representatives. The Democrats who voted against Telecom
Immunity should be honored for standing up to the Bush Administration and corporate
lobbyists.
Yes, there are many Democrats who championed Telecom Immunity -- most notably
Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia -- but there were many who have opposed
it, in fact a majority of them in the House.
Often, we at BuzzFlash are critical of the Democrats, but there is a foundation
to build upon in Congress, and when they do the right thing, as they did in the
House on Telecom Immunity, they should be lauded.
Let's just hope that they don't cave in to Bush Administration and corporate
bullying, along with the influence of telecom campaign contributions.
But for the moment -- and that is a lifetime in politics -- we want to hold out
a carrot and present the BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award to those Democrats
in Congress who have thus far opposed Telecom Immunity.
