The BuzzFlash reader who nominated Elizabeth Holtzman for this week's Wings of Justice Award put it succinctly, "Like Naomi Wolf, she is a true patriot who speaks out about the dangers to our country and our Constitution and who warns against complacency by reminding us of our obligations as citizens, and of what is possible and necessary -- the impeachment of a corrupt president and vice president and the preservation of future executive accountability."

We couldn't agree more. When we interviewed Holtzman for the second time recently, we kept wondering why she was so tenaciously seeking impeachment. She is practicing with a high-powered New York law firm, living a comfortable life -- and yet she is defying the leaders of her party by continuing to demand that Bush and Cheney be held accountable for their illegal actions.

In out latest interview, BuzzFlash asked Holtzman directly, "Why are you so passionate about this [impeachment] when the leadership of the Democratic Party just kind of wants to see it go away?"

Her response was patriotic and to the point, "I love this country, and I know the consequences of what happens when presidents get to abuse their power."

A former Congresswoman and district attorney who believes that no one -- even the president and vice president -- should be above the law, she served on the Congressional committee that investigated Watergate and Nixon's impeachment.

In this day and age of political timidity, Holtzman stands out as a private citizen who speaks out for all of us on behalf of upholding our Constitution.

For that, Elizabeth Holtzman more than merits this week's BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award.
