Jon Stewart
On July 20, 2005, we gave the entire "Daily
Show" the
BuzzFlash
Wings of Justice Award.
But a BuzzFlash reader reminded us that Jon Stewart deserves to
wear a couple of Wings of Justice all by himself.
Stewart does a skillful,
balancing act of revealing the truth behind
the orchestrated babble of politics and the titillating celebrity
world. He's an entertainer who somehow manages to always show his
hand through irony and parody -- and what he reveals is something
both comical and disarmingly revealing.
If the emperor wears no clothes, it's in large part because Jon
Stewart has disrobed him.
Chris Matthews found that out in a recent "Daily Show" interview about his latest book, comparing life to running a political campaign.
He was so bloodied after Stewart got done with him that he probably
went directly to the emergency room. What got in Stewart's craw
about Matthews was his phoniness. This is the number one sin to
Stewart.
If you are a conservative and believe in what you are peddling,
Stewart will be polite and respectfully challenging. But woe to
the faux hypocrite.
In short, Stewart is an unerring B.S. detector. He's the canary
of truth in the mineshaft of hucksters.
For that -- and for keeping us sane -- we present this week's BuzzFlash
Wings of Justice Award to Jon Stewart.
