Reggie Walton
"Against tremendous political pressure, I'm sure,
Judge Walton had the courage to hand down a relatively harsh sentence
to Scooter
Libby. It gave me such hope to have a judicial official sanction
that the actions of Libby and, by extension, this administration,
were highly illegal and serious."
And we might add to the comments by the BuzzFlash reader who nominated
Judge Walton, Scooter Libby's action -- exposing a covert CIA operative
engaged in tracking the illicit transfer of WMDs -- was injurious
to the national security of the United States of America.
In no small irony, George W. Bush placed Judge Walton on the federal
bench. No doubt, the Bush cabal wanted to place a jurist known
for his law and order sentences in federal court. As one wag has
noted, only they thought Judge Walton knew that Bush loyalists
were exempted from the rule of law.
We guess Walton missed the wink and the nod when he was nominated,
because he's an equal opportunity "throw the book at them" judge.
Libby did far more damage to America than your average burglar,
and Walton saw right through the "I was too busy to remember
anything" defense.
A lot of Americans are afraid to stand up to the Bush crooks. Apparently,
we found one thing George W. has done right over seven years: he
appointed Reggie Walton to oversee federal cases.
And for not being cowed by a lot of traitorous letters of support
for Libby's key part in undermining the national security of the
United States, Judge Reggie Walton merits the BuzzFlash Wings of
Justice Award this week.
