BuzzFlash reader Marian Russell writes of Cindy Sheehan: "She has displayed courage and determination for her country."

"George Bush has committed the most egregious sin one could inflict upon others," Russell declares in her nomination of Sheehan, "the sin of having parents outlive their children."

Russell nominated Cindy, "For her dedication and all the sacrifices that she has made to expose the Bush Administration for leading us into an unjust war. A war only fought by the soldiers and their families while life goes on for the rest of us."

Cindy is the real thing: an American citizen unafraid to speak her mind. Even if you didn't always agree with everything she said, you knew and know where her heart is. She is the unheralded American who Bush claims to be standing up for when he opportunistically hides behind the jingoistic phrase: "support our troops."

BuzzFlash first bestowed its Wings of Justice Award on Cindy on August 10, 2005, when we noted:

"While others in Washington blanch at admitting that the Iraq War was a colossal blunder, Cindy Sheehan traveled to Crawford, Texas to tell George W. Bush that it was time to admit the error and end the bloodshed.

"Sheehan knows the personal cost of the war, in a way George W. Bush has never known. Cindy's son was killed in action in Iraq last year. Everybody grieves in their own way, but Sheehan didn't want other parents to feel her pain of loss."

Bush, of course, being a tinhorn cowboy, never summoned the courage to meet with Cindy. She had his number, and his handlers knew it.

We wish Cindy the best as she returns to her private life. She has served the cause of democracy well and more than merits her second BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award.
