Riverbend
She’s an anonymous
blogger from Iraq who speaks to the heart
of anyone with common sense and a will to live. She can’t reveal
her identity without fear that she might be killed by any of the
crazy unknowns running around the country, including American intelligence
forces.
You just know the Busheviks are not pleased with her candid, at
times lacerating, accounts of daily life and corrupt politics in
the land that has become Bush’s folly.
Of Saddam Hussein’s execution, Riverbend observed: "America
the savior… After nearly four years and Bush's biggest achievement
in Iraq has been a lynching. Bravo Americans."
But sometimes Riverbend, who is in her late 20s or early 30s, poignantly
describes the daily life of surviving in Iraq, including an outing
to buy colored erasers for her niece, and all the dramatic
implications of that seemingly harmless excursion.
In an age of cowards who hide behind hollow lofty words, Riverbend
reveals in her "Baghdad
Burning" blog an individual of
immense intelligence, passion and bravery.
Whoever you are, Riverbend, we honor you with pride as this week’s
BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award Winner.
