Elizabeth de la Vega
A BuzzFlash reader nominated former
U.S. prosecutor, Elizabeth de la Vega, "for her brilliant presentation
of the indictment of the highest officials of the United States of
America and their defrauding
of the United States and the American people by taking us into an
illegal and unjust war by their lies and deceptions."
De la Vega
began contributing to TomDispatch.com as a former litigator for
the U.S. Department of Justice. Her past professional experience
provided her with an expertise on whether or not Bush Administration
officials, including Bush, should be indicted for breaking the
law.
By
examining just the facts as we know them -- and not even needing
the secrets that are being kept from the American people -- de
la Vega penned an indictment of the leading Bush officials. She focussed
solely on the period leading up to the Iraq War and centered her
case on a legal violation that amounts to defrauding the American
people. Then she took the next step and played out a hypothetical
presentation of the indictment to a grand jury. All of this is
in "United
States v. George W. Bush et al.," a book just
released by Seven Stories Press.
De la Vega's professional knowledge
and indignation at the breaking of the rule of law show how one
citizen can make a difference --
as she presents to us the case that our current legal system should
be making.
For that, she deserves this week's BuzzFlash "Wings
of Justice Award."
