James Webb
A BuzzFlash reader nominated James Webb as a Wings of
Justice nominee, "Because he stood up to GW Bush at a White
House reception - when asked 'How is your boy?' by Bush - Webb answered
that he wants him out of Iraq - Bush [arrogantly and disdainfully
responded], 'That is not what I asked you. How is your boy?'"
Webb answered 'That is between me and my boy, Mr. President.'"
Webb will be a great Senator - and will not take any guff from the
Commander in Chief. Webb wears his son's old combat boots to remind
him that his son is in Iraq -- in harm's way, on a daily basis."
Paul
Krugman noted that Webb's son, "a Marine lance corporal,
is risking his life in Mr. Bush's war of choice." Meanwhile,
the Bush twins were out wilding down in Argentina.
Krugman commends Webb for holding his ground against Bush's unpatriotic
and dismissive thuggishness: "We need people in Washington
who are willing to stand up to the bully in chief. Unfortunately,
and somewhat mysteriously, they're still in short supply."
Webb, a decorated combat veteran and former Secretary of the Navy,
doesn't take any guff from the likes of Coward-in-Chief, George
W. Bush.
For that, James Webb, Democratic Senator-Elect from Virginia, you
merit this week's BuzzFlash "Wings of Justice" Award.
