Michael J. Fox
It was Ernest Hemingway who said that courage is grace
under pressure. And Keith Olbermann paid homage to Michael J. Fox
for his comportment
after he was savagely attacked by a right wing radio hustler.
This
week's reader who nominated Fox for the BuzzFlash "Wings
of Justice Award" felt likewise: "For
putting himself on the front line and advocating for stem cell
research in the most public style - and apparently most dangerous
as well.
For responding to the horrific, barbaric attacks upon him (by Rush
Limbaugh) with dignity and grace.
"For allowing the public to see
the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, an illness that attacks so
many as he supports -- and asks others
to support -- candidates who care about the quality of life for
others and not just themselves. For being true to himself and true to his
fellow human beings despite the Rush Limbaughs of the world."
Let
the Limbaughs of the world enjoy their hedonistic sex trips to the Dominican
Republic and their illegal medications. Nobility
of
the spirit is not measured by the depth of one's
depravity; it is derived from the compassion of one's
inner soul.
In that spirit, BuzzFlash is proud to honor Michael
J. Fox with this week's "Wings
of Justice Award."
Where others know only how to dispense hate, he offers hope.
