Lt. Cmdr. Charles Swift
Most Americans probably don't realize that the
lead attorney who stood up for the Constitution in the recent Supreme
Court case is a military lawyer (JAG).
That's right, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Swift is an honorable,
decent and just military man -- and so he has risked
his career for justice in the Hamdan v. Rumsfeld Case.
The Supreme Court narrowly sided with Swift in a slender, but enormously
significant, win for the American Constitution and the separation
of powers enshrined in the American government.
The BuzzFlash reader who nominated Swift for the "Wings
of Justice Award" noted that "When
looked at in historical perspective, I believe that Lt. Cmdr. Swift's
stunning legal victory will be seen as society's first steps toward
reigning in an evil, corrupt administration. The Supreme Court has
looked at George W. Bush's claims of unlimited executive power, and
it has told him, in no uncertain terms that he was 'President,
not King.'
"I think that is a MONUMENTAL victory! And, one for
which Lt. Cmdr. Swift should be honored. As a former Army JAG, myself,
I believe
that Lt. Cmdr. Swift has exhibited great moral courage, and considerable
legal skill. I want to thank him, because he has made me proud,
once again, to say that I am an AMERICAN."
Lt. Cmdr.
Charles Swift has served in the Navy for 19 years. He can handle
the truth and then some.
No doubt because he stood up for the rule of law, his military
career is -- for practical purposes -- over. He's a target
for the wrath of the Busheviks now, because they value only loyalty
in their thirst for power, not justice.
It would be hard to find a more fitting candidate this week than
Lt. Cmdr. Charles Swift, the winner of the BuzzFlash "Wings
of Justice Award."
